#378 Puck- Edith Pearlman
Rennie ran Forget Me Not, a quaint antique shop. When her
old friend Ophelia came in selling a bronze statue of Puck, a forest sprite,
she immediately bought it. It was an impulse purchase, something she rarely
did. But this statue had a certain allure.
“Puck was king of the fairies…He puts love potions in
people’s eyes. Brought about misalliances. A mischievous sprite.”
In twenty-five years of running her shop, Rennie had worked
with an ethical code. “She did not tell any costumer anything whatsoever about
any other customer. It was one of her two cardinal rules. The other rule also
involved keeping her mouth shut: she refused to give advice.”
Having Puck in her store leads her to break both those rules,
probably for the better.
