#178 A Good Man is Hard to Find- Flannery O’Connor
Things used to be so much better according to grandmother:
“I remember a day when you could go off and leave your
screen door unlatched. Not no more.”
“In my time…children were more respectful of their native
states and their parents and everything else. People did right then.”
According to the next generation, it’s the older generation
that did all the harm, but gets none of the blame: “Does it seem right to you,
lady, that one is punished a heap and another ain’t punished at all.”
Perhaps both are right. “It’s no real pleasure in life.”
